Lithological Description: Interbedded green, glauconitic and phosphatic shales, sandy mudstones and fine- to coarse-grained calcareous sandstones.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of sandstones and mudstones as described under Lithology, resting on grey quartzites of the Wrekin Quartzite; junction is sharp and may be disconformable locally.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Base of shelly glauconitic limestone of the overlying Lower Comley Limestones Formation. Locally an unconformity overlain by the Comley Breccia (bed).
Thickness: 100-150m
Geographical Limits: Church Stretton, Lilleshall, Shropshire.
