Lithological Description: |
Commonly misinterpreted on topographical grounds as depositional terraces, these erosional features may be cut into any superficial deposit or bedrock lithology. Examples such as those in the lower Wharfe valley between Ilkley and Wetherby are cut into Pleistocene glacial deposits comprising alternations of flow and/or meltout till (diamicton) and sand and gravel, overlying lodgement till (diamicton). |
