Author statement Original geological survey on the one-inch scale by H.W. Bristow and published on Old Series sheets 15 (1856) and 18 (1850). Minor revisions by H.B. Woodward and W.A.E. Ussher of Jurassic strata of Sheet 18 incorporated in a revised edition (1875). Revision of the Cretaceous strata at the 1:10 560 scale by A.J. Jukes-Browne, F.J. Bennett, C. Reid and W. Whitaker between 1893-1899. Drift surveyed by H.G. Dines and S.E. Hollingworth in 1921 and 1922. Published on the one-inch scale, 1923. Reconstituted from one-inch scale without geological revision and reprinted onto First Series 1:50 000 base, 1977. Resurveyed on the 1:10 000 scale by C.R. Bristow, E.C. Freshney, C.M. Barton, R.T. Taylor and P.M. Allen in 1986-1990. R.W. Gallois, P.M. Allen and B.J. Williams, Regional Geologists. Seismic interpretation by D.J. Evans.
