DIC_ROCK_ALL (3677 rows)
Dictionary table based on the entire version 3 of the BGS Rock Classification Scheme and is populated directly from the 3 supplying tables (BGS.ROCK_NAME_V3, BGS.ROCK_COMPOSITE and BGS.DIC_ROCK_DUMMY). It contains both the base rock names and addditional codes required for specific application, eg. composite names for use on digital geological maps. It is formally approved as the official source of ALL database codes to be used in BGS corporate databases and MUST be followed.

| 813 | FUSAIN | RN | Fusain - A type of bituminous-coal, classified according to lithotype. It is a black, soft, friable coal which closely resembles charcoal. It easily disintegrates into a black, fibrous powder. A hard form of fusain that has been impregnated with mineral matter can be found in some coals. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/03, section 6.1 and fig. 10. | Fusain | C | GRBA | 24-FEB-00 | TMCM | 08-MAR-19 | R | |
| 814 | FWACKE | RN | Feldspathic-wacke - A type of wacke. In the Rock Classification Scheme, it is defined as shown in British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/03, section 2.2 and figs. 3, 4. | Feldspathic-wacke | C | GRBA | 24-FEB-00 | TMCM | 08-MAR-19 | R | |
| 815 | G1KMB | RN | Group-1-kimberlite - A type of kimberlite. Group-1-kimberlite corresponds to archetypal rocks from Kimberley, South Africa that formerly were termed basaltic kimberlites. These are volatile-rich (dominantly CO2), potassic, ultrabasic rocks which commonly exhibit a distinctive inequigranular texture resulting from the presence of macrocrysts (and in some instances megacrysts) set in a fine-grained matrix. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/06, section 6.4. | Group-1-kimberlite | C | GRBA | 24-FEB-00 | TMCM | 22-FEB-19 | R | |
| 816 | G2KMB | RN | Group-2-kimberlite - A type of kimberlite. Group-2-kimberlite corresponds to micaceous or lamprophyric kimberlites. They are characterised by the presence of macrocrysts, phenocrysts and groundmass micas, which vary from phlogopite to tetraferriphlogopite.
