Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp upward change in a conformable succession from predominantly grey mudstone to sandstone - base of first sandstone above the Abdy or Winter Coal.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Sharp upward change in a conformable succession from sandstone to predominantly mudstone - top of last sandstone bed below the Two-Foot Coal and overlying Maltby (Two-Foot) Marine Band.
Thickness: 0 to 53m
Geographical Limits: From southwest of Wath upon Dearne around the hamlet of Abdy [SK4430 9880], South Yorkshire, to Staincross Common, [SE3300 1100] Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
