Definition of Lower Boundary: Transitional with Lower Ludlow Shale.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Transitional with Upper Ludlow Shale locally; local unconformity in type area; locally at base of yellow ochreous shale in type area (Alexander, 1936).
Thickness: 18 metres - 25 metres in Malvern area; up to 45 metres in type area.
Geographical Limits: Welsh Borderland, West Midlands, Coalbrookdale and Malverns.
