Lithological Description: A fine- to medium-grained, commonly vesicular and amygdaloidal olivine basalt.
Definition of Lower Boundary: A conformable contact with medium-grained sublithic sandstone of the Bofrishlie Burn Sandstone Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Not seen, but quartz and quartzite conglomerate of the parent Craig of Monievreckie Conglomerate Formation, in close proximity above.
Thickness: Approximately 30 m thick.
Geographical Limits: The north-west limb of Strathmore Syncline between Maol Ruadh and Balleich in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
Parent Unit: Craig of Monievreckie Conglomerate Formation (CMVC)
