Stratotypes:
Partial Type Section  Catton Grove Chalk Pit, Norwich. The quarry shows about 12.5m of section including the basal 2m of the Beeston Chalk above the Weyborne Chalk. Both are termed as members in Mortimore et al. (2001, p.356, Figure 4.26.). Elsewhere in that volume the epithet "formation" is applied to the Beeston Chalk. 
Partial Type Section  Caistor St Edmund Chalk Pit, Norwich. The quarry exposes about 16m of succession but does not show either the base or top of the full unit.
