Definition of Upper Boundary: Marked by transition from bluish or olive green mudstones into nodular black mudstones (Fron Neurydd Formation).
Thickness: 95m (Sheet SH50NE) to 200m (Cadair Idris - Cox, 1925, Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London, Vol.81.
Geographical Limits: Continuous outcrop from the coast to beyond Cadair Idris.
