Lithological Description: A medium to coarse-grained and weakly cleaved, lithic sandstone arenite, which contains chloritised grains, possibly after serpentine, and chromite grains.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Not seen, as either faulted against younger or older rocks, or juxtaposed against sheared and silicified serpentinite.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Not seen, as either faulted or unconformably overlain by Upper Devonian, Upper Old Red Sandstone Facies strata.
Thickness: At least 200 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Isolated slivers within the Highland Boundary Fault system between Loch Lomond (Balmaha) and Gualann. 1:50k sheets 38W (Ben Lomond) and 38E (Aberfoyle).
