Lithological Description: Breccia, angular clasts of Carboniferous limestone (dolostone) set in a red-brown, very fine-grained, clayey sandstone matrix.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The lower boundary is where breccia unconformably overlies dolostone of the Carboniferous Limestone; it may also conformably overlie red mudstone/siltstones/sandstones of the Gunthorpe Member, but this relationship has not been observed.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The upper boundary is where typically red-green mudstones, siltstones or sandstones of the Gunthorpe Member overlie breccia.
Thickness: 0 - 5 m.
Geographical Limits: Breedon-on-the-Hill to Barrow Hill, South Derbyshire.
