Lithological Description: Very coarse, pebbly to medium-grained cross-bedded feldspathic sandstone with minor siltstone beds.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp and erosional on massive bedded sandstone and siltstone of the Pendle Grit Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Typically sharp at top of rootlet bed beneath base of grey micaceous siltstone and sandstone of the Roeburndale Member.
Thickness: 0 to 330m
Geographical Limits: South-eastern Lancaster Fells; also western Settle area.
Parent Unit: Pendleton Formation (PENDL)
