Medium to high-k, continental margin calc-alkaline basalt-andesite-rhyolite volcanic association of lavas, sills, pyroclastic and reworked pyroclastic deposits. NOTE: See definitions of component formations and members. |
Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Unconformably overlies the Skiddaw Group; the base is taken at this unconformity where there is a profound change from a marine mudrock sequence to a volcanic one. |
Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Unconformably overlain by Windermere Supergroup. |
Thickness: |
Variable, but probably up to 6000m. |
Geographical Limits: |
Central Lake District, also in Cross Fell Inlier and possibly Teesdale Inlier. |
