| Lithological Description: |
Calcareous, banded psammite and semipelite, grey and pale green, normally flaggy but schistose in places. Tremolitic amphibole commonly conspicuous in hand specimen. Thin beds of impure metalimestone locally. |

At incoming of calcareous (greenish, tremolite-bearing) psammites and semipelites above the non-calcareous Findlater Flag Formation. |
| Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Below graphitic pelites with beds of pure metalimestone comprising the Mortlach Graphitic Schist Formation. |

c. 1200m in coastal section. |

1) R. Fiddich NW of Dufftown to Forgie, Clochan and Cairnfield House (Sheets 85E and 95). 2) Craibstone and Deskford to Crathie Point and Garron Point (Sheet 96). (Below Keith Shear-Zone; probably equivalent stratigraphically to Pitlurg Calcareous Flag Formation above the Keith Shear-Zone.) |
