Lithological Description: Diamicton, sands, gravels and silts. Clasts mainly derived from Central Highland Migmatite Complex and Caledonian igneous rocks. deposited by ice that (mainly) radiated out from a centre over Rannoch Moor.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable on bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Generally the ground surface.
Thickness: Generally 5 - 10 m, but locally 30 m or more.
Geographical Limits: The Grampian Highlands as far as Strath Spey, the Cairngorm Mountains and Gaick Plateau to the east, Strathmore, Monteith and Loch Lomond to the south, including the Inner Hebrides to the south of Mull.
