Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use MAHO] A grey, fine-grained, slightly bioclastic,well-bedded limestone with a sandy base, and interpreted to be of marine origin, containing brachiopods and rare rugose corals, crinoids, and commonly Zoophycus caudagalli trace fossils.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Generally a conformable change from a rooted sandstone within the Lower Limestone Formation lying about 20m above the Middle (and Upper Skateraw) Limestone (now named the Blackhall Limestone).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Usually a conformable change to sandstone within the Lower Limestone Formation, which separates this from the Barns Ness Limestone (now the Mid Hosie Limestone) about 10m above,
Thickness: Ranging from 2.4m to 2.9m in East Lothian
Geographical Limits: In East Lothian in the Barns Ness area near Dunbar.
