Lithological Description: |
The limestone unit infills a pre-existing palaeokarstic surface and comprises clasts of Ordovician limestone (Durness Group), within an early Jurassic, yellowish, crinoid-rich, micrite matrix. |
Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Unconformable on a palaeokarstic surface eroded into Ordovician dolostones of the Durness Group. |
Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Separated by a dolerite sill from overlying fissile mudstones and limestones of the Breakish Formation; Farris et al (1999) suggested that, apart from the sill, the sequence is conformable. |
