Lithological Description: Sandstone, pebbly sandstone and largely volcaniclastic conglomerate.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The base of the lowest bed of poorly-sorted, volcaniclastic conglomerate or pebbly sandstone above a succession of grey-green volcaniclastic sandstones of the 'Brown and Grey Sandstone 'Member' of Carroll, 1994.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The base of the lowest bed of cross-bedded medium-grained sandstones of the Red Sandstone 'Member' overlying green and red, massive, coarse-grained pebbly volcaniclastic sandstones of the Cowie Harbour Conglomerate Member.
Thickness: From 20 m to 30 m thick. The type section is cut by strike-parallel faults of unknown displacement.
Geographical Limits: Stonehaven area.
