Lithological Description: Volcaniclastic sandstone and breccia, bedded, coarsening upwards.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of volcaniclastic sandstone or breccia that overlies, with local unconformity, the Lickle Tuff Formation (Stickle Pike Tuff Member) rhyolitic tuff.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by dacitic lapilli-tuff of the Lag Bank Tuff Formation.
Thickness: 0 to 700m
Geographical Limits: Confined within the Ulpha Basin. Main outcrop is on Caw (SD 230 944) extends south to Appletree Worth (SD 247 930), north to Grassguards Fault (SD 230 960) and west to Stickle Pike (SD 212 917), Cumbria.
