Computer Code: DTILL Preferred Map Code: notEntered
Status Code: Full
Age range: Pleistocene Epoch (QP) — Pleistocene Epoch (QP)
Lithological Description: Deformation till is weak rock or unconsolidated sediment detached and deformed by subglacial shearing under the sole of a glacier involving the plastic deformation, squeezing or pressing of glacial debris (diamicton). Deformation till may also be associated with glacitectonite which consists of materials so highly attenuated by subglacial shear that all primary structures have been destroyed and the material homogenised.
