Lithological Description: Chlorite-chloritoid phyllite containing a few thin bands of quartzite. Kyanite occurs in quartz segregations and staurolite in metamorphic aureoles.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at base of pelitic wacke interpreted to belong to the Dunrossness Phyllitic (Formation) where it rests conformably on pelite and semi-pelite interpreted to belong to the Clift Hills Phyllitic (Formation).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at conformable upward passage from pelitic wacke interpreteted to belong to the Dunrossness Phyllitic (Formation), to meta-spilite of the Dunrossness Spilitic Formation.
Thickness: 750 m approx.
Geographical Limits: Shetlands, Scotland.
