Lithological Description: Sandy, silty and commonly gritty, diamicton, typically pale to dark brown; clasts include Devonian mudstones, sandstones and flagstones, with some Caledonian igneous and Moine metamorphic rocks.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable on bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Base of the Reisgill Burn Till Formation, typically the base of the Forse Till member.
Thickness: To 12m
Geographical Limits: Caithness and Sutherland northeast of a line between Reay and Berridale (1:50 000 sheets 115E and W, 116E and W, 110).
Parent Unit: Northwest Highlands Glacigenic Subgroup (NWHG)
