Lithological Description: Fine- to medium-grained shelly marine sands/intertidal or shallow sub-tidal in north west Flemish Bight with interbeds of clay.
Definition of Lower Boundary: At type locality overlies Saalian glacial till. In Flemish Bight, overlies Lower and Middle Pleistocene formations (unconformably).
Definition of Upper Boundary: At type locality, overlain by Weichselian periglacial sands (Twente Formation). In Flemish Bight, is overlain by Twente Formation, Brown Bank Formation (early Weichselian brackish-marine clays) or Holocene sands.
Thickness: 15.71 metres. Lateral variations 5 - 30 metres. Maximum 30 metres in Flemish Bight Sheet.
