Lithological Description: Esker deposits are long, low, narrow, sinuous, steep-sided ridges or mounds composed of irregularly stratified sand and gravel deposited by subglacial or englacial streams flowing between ice walls of a glacier. In Britain, esker ridges range in length from less than a kilometre tens of kilometres, and in height from about 5 to 20 m.
