Lithological Description: Quartzite, cross-bedded, granular, white; large-scale ripple marks prominent.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp change from thinly-banded psammite and semipelite to thick-bedded quartzite.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Top of highest quartzite bed; overlain by flaggy thin-bedded psammite and semipelite.
Thickness: c.7m on coast section; possibly 10 to 20m inland.
Geographical Limits: From coast at Findlater Castle [NJ 5425 6730], as far inland as the A98 road [NJ 531 667]; quartzite units within the Findlater Flag Formation to the southwest of the A98 cannot with confidence be correlated with the Findlater Castle Quartzite Member.
