Lithological Description: Quartzite, thickly- to very thickly-bedded, rarely pebbly, cross-bedding well-developed. Contains thin beds of muscovite-rich and garnetiferous biotitc semipelite.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Not seen; covered by unconformably overlying Devonian rocks.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Fairly sharp change to medium- to thin-bedded quartzite of Logie Head Quartzite Member.
Thickness: c.1200m on coast section; cannot be distinguished separately inland.
Geographical Limits: Along coast section from Buckpool, Buckie [NJ 413 656] to Toshie's Long Craigs [NJ 4970 6835]; cannot be differentiated inland.
Parent Unit: Cullen Quartzite Formation (CUQU)
