Lithological Description: Fine-grained, clayey, weakly calcareous sand and sandstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The base is marked by the upward change from sandy clay of the Gault Formation into the sand of this unit.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The top is marked by the upward change from sand into sandy clay of the Gault Formation.
Thickness: 0 to 5m.
Geographical Limits: A limited area around Fontmell Magna, Dorset (ST 867 170) (Shaftesbury Sheet 313). This deposit is not described in the Stratigraphical Framework document and is considered to be of bed status because of its limited outcrop.
