Lithological Description: Red-bed sandstones with sporadic silty calcareous mudstones with fossil fish-bearing limestones/concretions.
Definition of Lower Boundary: At top of the Spey Conglomerate Formation, the essentially conglomeratic sequence at the base of the Old Red Sandstone succession in the Fochabers area.
Definition of Upper Boundary: At diachronous base of the Findhorn Sandstone Group in the Fochabers area where it is marked by yellow to reddish brown fossiliferous sandstones, containing fish, of the Alves-Scaat Craig Beds.
Thickness: Approximately 100m
