Lithological Description: Purple and green slates with silty laminations in the central part of the outcrop. Grey slates with local spilite lavas (some pillow structures), bluish-grey calcareous siltstones between Bremridge and Farlacombe ]SX 792 711] and buff siltstone to the south-east of Bickington are seen to the north-west and south-east. Rare ferruginous or siliceous nodules occur throughout the formation.
