| Lithological Description: | The Haddiscoe Sand and Gravel Member comprises black, well-rounded fine to coarse flint gravel. Within the gravel large rotated blocks of sand are preserved, which are thought to have been in a frozen condition at the time of deposition. | ||
| Definition of Lower Boundary: | The gravels overlie and cut down into silt and clay-rich chalky tills of the Lowestoft Formation. They also overlie sands of the Happisburgh Formation. | ||
| Definition of Upper Boundary: | The Haddicoe Sand and Gravel Member is generally at the surface, but is locally overlain in valleys by Head, and on the lowermost ground by silt and peat of the Breydon Formation. | ||
| Thickness: | Up to about 15 m. | ||
| Geographical Limits: | Restricted to the southwestern flanks of the Yare and Waveney valleys and isolated deposits on the northern flanks of the Waveney valley near Somerleyton, Norfolk-Suffolk border. | ||
