Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use AS] Sandstone, buff-grey or greenish grey, fine- to medium-grained interbedded with mudstone and siltstone, reddish brown and greenish grey.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Gradational upward passage from un-named siltstone in Edwalton Formation to medium-grained sandstone.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Gradational into mudstone of the overlying Cropwell Bishop Formation; taken at the top of the highest significant sandstone bed.
Thickness: 0-8m (6.2m in the Cropwell Bridge Borehole, SK63NE/28).
Geographical Limits: Mappable at surface in south Nottinghamshire, not traced north of Newark. Probably equivalent to the Dane Hills Sandstone Member of Leicestershire, and Arden Sandstone of the central Midlands and the Worcester Basin.
