| Lithological Description: |
Soft, highly plastic, silty clay with sand lenses and partings. Sporadic shell fragments, carbonaceous spots and inclusions. Bedding rarely visible, bioturbation may be present. Unit underlying it is a much stiffer clay unit, possibly a till. |
| Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Apparently conformable on Norwegian Trench Formation. |
| Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Disturbed by interpreted iceberg ploughmarks, current erosion and bioturbation. Overlain by thin Holocene sand sedimentation. |
| Thickness: |
Ten metres maximum in Cormorant map sheet area, deduced from seismic section. Thickness to the south and east in the Norwegian Trench. Small pockets (<1m) on the plateau area of the Cormorant map. |
