| Lithological Description: |
Clast-supported gravel with subrounded to rounded clasts up to cobble grade of Borrowdale Volcanic Group igneous rocks, siltstone, lithic sandstone; some red sandstone, white sandstone, coal and granite. Sparse (reworked) shell fragments and dinoflagellate cysts present in sandier parts of the unit. |

At its type section it overlies till of the Seascale Glacigenic Formation; elsewhere its basal contact is not seen, but the unit occurs stratigraphically above possible Winney Hill Coppice Clay Member of the Aikbank Glacigenic Formation in the Kirkton Wood West Section [log NY00SE(S) ME 166; Nirex Science Report SA/97/045 (Issue 2.0) 1997]. |

Unconformably overlain by the Drigg Beach Till Member of the the Gosforth Glacigenic Formation, with the uppermost c.0.3m (below the contact) pervasively sheared. |
