Lithological Description: Finely interbedded semipelite and micaceous psammite with lenses of quartzite and white to cream metalimestone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sheared boundary with migmatitic semipelite and minor psammite of Cowhythe Psammite Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Base of lowest massive metalimestone bed of Boyne Castle Limestone Member.
Thickness: c.150m on coastal section; progressively overstepped southwards by Whitehills Grit Formation. Sheared and tightly folded on coast.
Geographical Limits: From Moray Firth coast (Old Hythe to Boyne Bay) [NJ 6140 6630 - NJ 6155 6625] to Hill of Chattie [NJ 5900 6250].
