Lithological Description: Pyroxene andesite and olivine basalt lavas and rhyodacite, trachyandesite, hornblende andesite and volcaniclastic rocks.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The base is not seen, because the unit interdigitates laterally with the siliciclastic rocks of the Dundee Flagstone Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The top of the lavas and associated volcaniclastic rocks of the Ochil Volcanic Formation, overlain by sandstones of the Scone Sandstone Formation.
Thickness: Up to 2400 m thick.
Geographical Limits: The bridge of Allan to Tayport and Coupar Angus, central Scotland.
