Lithological Description: | A coarse sand to boulder-sized, massive, angular, very poorly-sorted, conglomerate with clasts of vesicular lava and rare clasts of quartzite and metabasic rock interbedded with a coarse- to very coarse-grained, typically massive, volcaniclastic sandstone. One flow of andesitic lave seen at Whistleberry. | ||
Definition of Lower Boundary: | The base of the lowest bed of the poorly-sorted volcaniclastic conglomerate with angular clasts, where this conformably overlies a clast-supported conglomerate with rounded clasts of lava and quartzite, of the undivided Catterline Conglomerate Formation. | ||
Definition of Upper Boundary: | The top of the highest bed of very coarse-grained volcaniclastic sandstone with angular clasts, where this is conformably overlain by a clast-supported conglomerate with rounded clasts of lava and quartzite of the undivided Catterline Conglomerate Formation. | ||
Thickness: | From 75 m to 115 m thick. | ||
Geographical Limits: | Northern Midland Valley, between Braidon Bay [NO 866 773] and Whistleberry [NO 860 753]. | ||
