Lithological Description: Pale to medium olive-grey, calcareous silty mudstone with thin highly calcareous mudstones or argillaceous limestones and (in Bath-Frome area), a seam of montmorillonite-rich clay (Fuller's Earth).
Definition of Lower Boundary: Top of the limestones of the Fuller's Earth Rock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The base of the lowermost argillaceous limestone of the Wattonensis Beds Member (Frome Clay Formation) marked by an increase in shell-detritus.
Thickness: 24 to 28 m in the Bath-Frome area, thin or absent between Baggridge and Purse Caundle, and 21 m in the Mappowder Borehole.
Geographical Limits: Bath district, south to the Dorset coast (at crop).
