Lithological Description: Garnet-muscovite-biotite bearing, schistose pelite and semipelite, interbanded with psammitic units. Generally strongly deformed.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Overlies the Glascarnoch Psammite Formation at its eastern margin, where predominantly psammitic lithologies pass gradationally into predominantly pelitic lithologies.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by the Crom Psammite Formation at its western maargin, where predominantly pelitic lithiloigies pass gradationally into predominantly psammitic lithologies.
Thickness: c. 300 m (estimate; unit is strongly deformed) thinner to SW and NE.
Geographical Limits: NW Highlands, Central Ross-shire to Sutherland.
