Lithological Description: Semipelite, micaceous, generally biotite-rich and garnetiferous.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp change from feldspathic quartzite and psammite of the Sunnyside Sandstone Member (Cullen Quartzite Formation).Locally faulted (e.g. on coast section).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Transition to thin-bedded, flaggy psammite and semipelite within the Findlater Flag Formation.
Thickness: c.100m on coast section and inland.
Geographical Limits: From coast at West Sands [NJ 5375 6740], as far as Easter Bogs [NJ 410 630] (Sheet 95), where it is unconformably overlain by Devonian sedimentary rocks.
