Lithological Description: Quartzose sandstones (orthoquartzites) comprising rounded quartz grains, subordinate feldspar and some glauconite. Locally pebbly and conglomeratic at base, with clasts of Precambrian (Uriconian) volcanic material. Sporadic mudstone interbeds.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable on Ercall Granophyre.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Sharp conformable junction with glauconitic sandstones of the overlying Lower Comley Sandstone Formation.
Thickness: To 40m
Geographical Limits: Shropshire.
