Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use RB, WL] Glauconitic sands at base (Bottom Bed), overlain by grey clays and sands with brackish fauna (Woolwich Beds), and interleaved red and variegated clays and sands (Reading Beds).
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at base of glauconitic sand of the Woolwich and Reading Beds where it rests unconformably on fine-grained sands of the Thanet Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Unconformity, at boundary between clays and sands of the Woolwich and Reading Beds and sands and pebble beds of the London Clay Formation. (Blackheath and Oldhaven Beds intervene in the east of London and Essex).
Thickness: Approx. 12-20m
Geographical Limits: London Basin.
