Author statement Original geological survey on the one-inch scale by H.W. Bristow, published on Old Series Sheets 16 and 17 in 1855. Resurveyed on the six-inch scale by C. Reid and A. Strahan and published with Drift on the one-inch scale in 1895 (Sheet 343) and 1896 (Sheet 342). Sir Archibald Geikie, D.Sc., LL.D., F.R.S., Director General. Creechbarrow and notes on Sheet 342 revised by W.J. Arkell in 1937-8 and new edition published in 1949. W.F.P. Mclintock, D.Sc., Director. 
Published statement New edition published 1949. Sheet 343 republished with minor amendments in 1954. Sheet 343 combined with part of Sheet 342, reconstituted from the one-inch scale without geological revision, and reprinted on to 1st Series 1:50 000 base in 1976. Print code: 5000/76.
