Author statement Original geological survey at 1:63 360 scale by H.H. Howell. Published as Old Series Sheet 52 in 1864. Partial revision by J.W. Judd, published 1870. Partially surveyed on the 1:10 560 scale by A.C.G. Cameron between 1887 and 1898. Resurveyed on the 1:10 560 scale by R.L. Sherlock in 1934 to 1936, and W.B. Evans, G.W. Green, S.E. Hollingworth, J.H. Taylor, V. Wilson and A.W. Woodland between 1940 and 1947. Published at 1:63 360 scale in 1958. Reprinted in 1967. Reconstituted on the 1:50 000 scale without revision in 1974. Revised by A.J.M. Barron, K.A. Booth, R.T. Mogdridge, A.E. Richardson, C. Herbert, H.J. Reeves and A.D. Gibson in 1998-2004 with amendments to geological nomenclature and boundaries including areas of worked and made ground based on information from Northamptonshire County Council. Interpretation of deep structure by N.J.P. Smith, 2004. P.J. Strange, Regional Geologist.
